As parents and community volunteers, Jeff and Sandy Jones embraced the Ignatian principles of a Jesuit education.
Jeff served on Jesuit High School’s Board of Trustees from 2012 until 2018 and on Academic, Foundation, and Ignatian Identity Committees. In 2017-18 he was Board Chair.
“As Chair I believed it was vital that each Board member be aware of the principles of Ignatian spirituality and be willing to implement them in our decision-making process,” said Jeff.
Jeff and Sandy saw the impact of a Jesuit education firsthand, not only in their own lives but also in the lives of their three children: Spencer ’12, Mitchell ’13 , and Natalie ’17.
Sandy served for many years on Jesuit’s Parent Advisory Board, various Auction committees, and as a lunch mom. Both Sandy and Jeff accompanied their children on the Senior Pilgrimage and continued to volunteer after their children had graduated.
Sandy and Jeff grew up in Lake Oswego and attended Waluga Junior High School and Lakeridge High School. They had a set of close, mutual friends and began dating when Jeff was a freshman at Oregon State and Sandy was a high school senior.
Sandy joined Jeff at Oregon State where she studied elementary education and early childhood development. After earning a master’s in education, she taught fourth and fifth grade for 13 years in the Beaverton School District before leaving the profession to start a family. Jeff earned his degree in business and minored in computer science.
Jeff's professional path led him from a training program at Xerox to the consulting world with Arthur Anderson’s Technology and Information Systems Division. This eventually evolved into Accenture. Several years later Jeff teamed up with Dale Stockamp who had started a consulting company for hospitals with cutting-edge technology applications. This company eventually merged with Huron Consulting Group, which became one of the largest healthcare consulting companies in the nation.
Sandy and Jeff are grateful for their children’s educational experience at Jesuit.
“We are so pleased they were encouraged to be ‘critical thinkers’ and were allowed to question their faith,” said Sandy.
Jeff added, “I truly believe that our students left Jesuit with a real sensitivity to be aware of the needs of others.”
They appreciated that Jesuit was a safe place to learn, to pray, and to establish long-lasting friendships with others.
Their decision to join the Legacy Club was a reflection of their commitment to ensuring that a Jesuit education continues to be a beacon of hope and excellence for future generations.
As Jeff said, “I can’t imagine a better return for one’s money than to invest in Jesuit education.”
